Heather Dawn Thompson, Thašúŋke Híŋ Zi Wiŋ, is a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. She lives with her family between Rapid City and the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, where they are surrounded by beloved animals, including Donut and Tokala. She also has professional obligations in Denver, DC, and Alaska.

 

Heather is the daughter of Keith Richard Thompson and Cleo Dolphus Thompson.

 

Keith Thompson descends from a long line of farmers and a large Mormon family. He is from Weiser and Payette, Idaho and spent his career traveling the world with Morrison Knudsen. Heather also had one wonderful brother, Brent Carlin Thompson, who passed in 2017, and nieces in Oklahoma.

Cleo Dolphus Thompson was born on the Cheyenne River Sioux reservation in South Dakota and is the daughter of Margaret “Mick” Dolphus and Severt “Dutch” Dolphus (parents John William Dolphus and Emma Pearman), both tribal members. Heather’s maternal lineage is:
